Paediatric Occupational Therapy

Flinders University Paediatric Occupational Therapy

This service is an integrated part of the Flinders University Master of Occupational Therapy Program. Staffed by masters’ level students and supervised by senior occupational therapy educators from the University, the service provides comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and therapy services to children aged 0-6 years. An individually tailored program will be developed to meet the needs of you and your child. We provide block therapy which typically consists of an 8-week therapy block, followed by a home program and then a further 8-week block if required.

The service utilises a play based approach and aims to support children's participation and engagement in the everyday occupations that they want or need to do such as: drawing/writing, cutting, playing, toileting, dressing, sleeping, eating, and socialising. It also aims to support parents to understand the individual needs of their child and their daily routines.

Services include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting you to understand your child’s sensory processing needs
  • Supporting the development of your child’s play and social skill development
  • Supporting the development of your child’s fine motor skills

The cost is $40 per session.

Children who access this clinic will not lose their place on the waiting lists for Flinders Medical Centre or Southern Early Childhood and Family services.
